01 — The Idea

Why we built a curler that does the wrapping itself

Most curling tools ask you to do something anatomically unreasonable: twist your wrist at an angle you cannot actually see in the mirror, hold it there, and hope both sides come out the same. That is why so many of us own a curling wand we rarely use, and why the curls we do manage usually look nothing like the ones on the box.

This tool removes the wrist work entirely. You take a two to three centimetre section, place the ends into the ceramic chamber and press. The barrel draws the hair in, holds it for the time you have set, then beeps when the curl is ready. Nothing to wrap, nothing to clip, no second hand needed. The first time you use it, the slightly strange part is how little you have to do.

The chamber is coated with ceramic-tourmaline rather than bare metal, and that matters more than it sounds on a spec sheet. Bare metal heats unevenly, pooling warmth in patches, which is exactly what gives you a curl that is tight at the end and limp at the root. Ceramic spreads heat along the whole length of the section, so the curl is one consistent shape from root to tip, with noticeably less frizz afterwards.

Three temperature settings cover the range people actually need: 160°C for fine or colour-treated hair, 180°C for normal hair, 200°C for thick or coarse hair that refuses to hold a shape. Pair that with four timer settings — 8, 10, 12 and 14 seconds — and the same tool produces a soft weekend wave on Monday and a defined spiral on Friday. You are not buying four curlers, you are buying one that behaves like four.

The rest is designed to be unremarkable in the best way. It reaches working temperature in about thirty seconds. A sensor stops the motor the moment it senses a tangle, which is the one thing everyone worries about with an automatic curler. It switches itself off after thirty minutes of inactivity. The two-metre swivel cord stops the handle from fighting you, and dual voltage means it works on 110–240V without a converter, which you will appreciate the first time you pack it.

Hair is drawn in and released for you. Curls that match on both sides, in about the time it takes to decide what to wear.
02 — What It Does

Everything it does, and why each part is there

No filler features. Each one below is something you will actually notice in the first week of using it.

01

Automatic curl chamber

Hair is pulled in, held and released by the barrel. No manual wrapping, no clips, no second hand needed — and both sides finally come out the same.

02

Ceramic-tourmaline coating

Heat spreads evenly along the whole section instead of pooling in hot spots, so the curl holds one shape from root to tip with far less frizz.

03

Three temperatures

160°C for fine or colour-treated hair, 180°C for normal hair, 200°C for thick or coarse hair. Start lower than you think and step up only if the curl will not hold.

04

Four timers, four results

8 seconds for a loose wave, 10 for soft definition, 12 for a classic curl, 14 for a tighter spiral. Same tool, four different looks.

05

Anti-tangle sensor

The barrel stops and reverses automatically if it senses hair has caught, which is the single most common worry people have about automatic curlers.

06

Ready in thirty seconds

Heats to working temperature fast enough that you can decide to curl your hair and be curling it before the kettle boils.

07

Thirty-minute auto shut-off

If you leave the room, it switches itself off. The safety net you hope never to need.

08

Dual voltage, two-metre swivel cord

Works on 110–240V anywhere in the world with a plug adapter only. The swivel base keeps the cord out of your way as you move around your head.

03 — In Practice

Where it earns its place

This is a tool for the mornings when you want your hair to look deliberate but you do not have forty minutes. It sits next to the mirror, heats in half a minute and lets you work through a full head in roughly ten.

It is also the rare styling tool that works just as well on the second day. Because you are re-curling rather than re-washing, a quick pass through the front sections is often all that is needed to make day-two hair look intentional again.

It is not the right tool for very short layers — you need roughly ten centimetres of length for the chamber to grip. On shoulder-length hair or longer it is genuinely quicker than a wand, and considerably less frustrating.

04 — How To Use It

Getting the best out of it

Follow these in order the first time. After a week it becomes automatic.

Start with completely dry hair

Automatic curlers do not work on damp sections, and heat plus water damages the cuticle. Blow-dry first, then brush through thoroughly.

Set temperature and timer, then wait

Choose your heat, choose your curl time, and wait about thirty seconds for the ready beep. Fine hair: start at 160°C, 8 seconds.

Place, press, hold

Take a two to three centimetre section. Place the ends into the chamber opening and press the curl button. The hair is drawn in automatically.

Release on the beep and let it cool

When it beeps, release and let the curl fall into your hand. Curls set as they cool, not as they heat — do not brush them out until they are completely cool.

Finish with your fingers

Once cool, shake out and separate with your fingers rather than a brush for a softer, more modern finish.

06 — Good To Know

Before you buy

Needs roughly 10 cm of hair length for the chamber to grip. On very short layers it will not hold.

Works on 110–240V, so abroad you need only a plug adapter, not a voltage converter.

Use on dry hair only. Heat and damp hair are a damaging combination, regardless of the tool.

Care & warranty

Wipe the chamber with a soft dry cloth once cool. Never submerge it in water.

Do not wrap the cord tightly around the body while warm — store it loosely in the pouch provided.

Covered by a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects.

07 — Questions

The things people ask before buying

Will it work on short hair?

It needs about ten centimetres of length for the barrel to draw the hair in. On shoulder-length or longer hair it works well; on very short layers it will not grip, and a traditional wand would serve you better.

Can I use it on hair extensions?

Yes on heat-safe synthetic or human-hair extensions, at 160°C. Test one hidden section first, since adhesives and bonds react to heat differently.

Is it frightening the first time?

Slightly — most people find the sensation of hair being drawn in unexpected for the first two or three curls. The anti-tangle sensor is why you can relax: it stops and reverses the barrel if anything catches.

How long does a curl hold?

Typically a full day on hair that holds curl reasonably well, longer with a light-hold hairspray. Fine, freshly washed hair may need the 12 or 14 second timer.

Does it work abroad?

Yes. Dual voltage 110–240V means a simple plug adapter is enough in Europe, the UK, North America and most of Asia.

Curls that match on both sides

One tool, four curl types, thirty seconds to working temperature. Add it to your morning and stop owning a curling wand you are slightly afraid of.
